The Climate Change alarm is ringing; our mother earth is crying; biodiversity is being consumed and overexploited on a daily basis. These 21st century challenges should be in everyone’s mind hour after hour, especially among the youth. One of the greatest solutions to tackle the effects of climate change is tree planting and growing, which is inevitable is the current era.
On 8th March 2019, which is also International Women’s day, on behalf of CYNESA DR Congo, we were humbled to participate in a tree planting activity organized by ‘Nature Uganda’; a youth led organization interested in Environmental advocacy.
A minimum of 150 seedlings were planted at Kihumuro, the new Mbarara University campus. This activity brought students, young volunteers, naturalists and many other lovers of the nature together.
Caring for our Mother Earth is not only the concern of certain groups of people but for everyone. This is the best way to practice Laudato Si’ (Caring for God’s creation) in our lives by fighting climate change, desertification and landscape degradation.
